February Roadmap and The Strategic Opportunities of Valentine's Day and Easter

The February Roadmap is ready for you to check out on GodSquad.

What do Valentine’s Day and Easter have in common?  No, not chocolate (yummy!).  Both are strategic times of the year to bring up spiritual conversations and share Christ with friends, classmates, co-workers, and professors.  These are times when people are more open to talk about God.  Use that to your advantage!  What a great way to celebrate our Savior’s love and resurrection by telling another person about the hope they can have through Christ.

Many people on your campus have no clue what real love is or what Easter is truly about.

1 Corinthians 15:20-22 "But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.  For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man.  For as in adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive."  (emphasis added)

Here are a few ideas for Valentine’s Day & Easter outreach:

  • Every Student's Choice Posters - Make the real meaning of love and/or Easter the issue on campus.  You can download a few different posters, make copies, hang them up and pray!  It is that simple!  The posters point students to the evangelistic website, EveryStudent.com. Statistics show that around 10,000 people accept Christ as a result of visiting this website every month.
  • Themed Meeting – Center the weekly meeting around love for Valentine’s Day or the Gospel message for Easter.  Hang posters up around campus about love/Easter a couple weeks before and personally invite people to come that night.  Wear red t-shirts that say “What is Love?” to promote the meeting.  Have food and share the Gospel.
  • Party - Invite classmates and friends to a holiday party. Have one person share his/her testimony during the night.  Have food, play a few fun games and maybe even make cookies.
  • Bake Cookies - Get people together to bake cookies and put them into baggies to give out to non-Christian friends or to a particular dorm.  Tell people you are part of a group on campus called _______ that is handing out these cookies to show the love of Christ.
  • Surveys – Go to a main area of campus where lots of students congregate and use a quick 5 question survey to initiate conversations with people.    Easter and Valentine’s Day surveys on GodSquad.
  • Table - Reserve a table on campus and hand out free candy and materials (FSK’s, Jesus video, books like Case for Christ or Case for Faith).  Hopefully people stop to chat and you can engage in a spiritual conversation or set up a time to talk at a later date.  Make sure to have fliers available with information about the ministry.
  • Conversations with friends - The most loving thing you can do for a friend is tell him/her what means most to you and the only thing that can save him/her - the Gospel.  You can simply ask, "You mean a lot to me and there's nothing that would please me more than to share the most important part of my life with you.  How would you feel about reading through this Booklet (Knowing God Personally)?”

God is too wonderful and the Gospel is too good to not tell others.  Whether you choose to do one of these ideas or use a creative one of your own, we encourage you to step out in faith and make the most of this strategic time of year to reach out to your campus.
