weekly ministry tips

Tip #4 - September 8, 2004

If you've seen the news lately, we on the Godsquad Team in Orlando Florida have been hit by two hurricanes in a row and a third one possibly on the way early next week. So if we or anyone on our Catalytic/Student LINC team is slow in replying back, you'll know why. The good news is that we're all safe. This week we want you to consider a very important startegy to guide you through your school year. It called the "Once a Month" strategy.

Once a Month

Each month throughout the school year, you need to have at least one main event that is aimed at sharing the gospel with the entire campus. This event needs to be highly advertised, interesting, inviting, and most importantly - gives people an opportunity to explore and respond to the gospel message in some form. With each monthly event, a comment or reply card needs to be used so that the interested people can be followed-up on and invited to your Bible study/weekly meeting.

Philosophy: If you simply maintain your weekly Bible study/meeting each week without continuing to invite new people, your ministry can staginate. But if you continue to invite new people, whether they are believers or just seekers, your ministry has a great chance of continuing to grow in both numbers and momentum.

Ideas: Do an outreach on the occult or witchcraft at the end of October. Show the "Passion of the Christ" DVD on a wide screen TV, pop popcorn and give it a theather atmosphere. On a personal level buy some copies of the DVD, let your friends borrow it and have them tell you what they think afterwards. Invite a knowledable believing scientist or professor to talk about Creation vs. Evolution. Consider a presentation on any of the topics on our evangelistic poster campaign list. Be creative. Key point, any activity you do on campus needs to allow you to collect comment cards so you can always do follow-up . Once a Month - go for it!
