Developing Lifelong Laborers
When he saw the crowds, he had compassion
on them, because they were harassed and helpless,
like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to
his disciples, "The harvest is plentiful
but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest,
therefore, to send out workers into his harvest
field."

Think About It
We would all agree that there is a lost world to reach
with the redeeming news of the gospel. China has a billion
unreached. Europe is still addicted to post-modern philosophy.
The cracks are barely visible in the Muslim world. Missionaries
are slugging it out one person at a time in Japan. The
battle for the hearts of the Russian people still rages.
And if it were not enough that the world beyond our
borders is dying for the message of Christ, we look
down our own streets and see moral decay. In America,
30 percent of all births are illegitimate. Heinous acts
of crime accost our senses through the media each week.
National condom week is "celebrated" each
February on hundreds of college campuses. Racial divisions
still run deep. Generation X has become "Generation
Why?" as absolute truth gives way to moral relativism.
What is missing? Is the good news
not as good? Are we saying the wrong
things? Is God just not blessing
anymore?

The Heart of the Matter
The gospel of Jesus Christ is as powerful, as needed,
as relevant to our times as it has ever been. What will
it take to make disciples of all nations?
The heart of Jesus beat with compassion when He saw
the multitudes. He saw disease and sickness. He saw
people who were harassed and helpless. But His solution
was astonishing.
Not more technology, more strategies,or more programs,
but "Ask the Lord to send out workers." God's
plan has been, is, and always will be people reaching
people. Your church and your college ministry can have
an eternal impact far beyond its borders.
We don't need today's workers to work harder. We need
reinforcements who will come join the harvest. Pray
that God would make your church a cradle of missionaries.
Pray that your campus ministry would become a sending
base for new workers who would serve Christ for a lifetime.
As God blesses your ministry on campus, you will have
a growing number of graduating seniors that you will
send into the world. These students are a priceless
treasure; they are the fruit of your ministry. Be sure
to pray for these students.
God may call some into vocational Christian ministry,
either in the United States, or in the world. Keep in
touch with them and help with their support. Every missionary
needs a home church and praying friends.
God will call others into the marketplace to be salt
and light, and to help arrest the decay in our society.
They, too, are participants in the fulfillment of the
Great Commission. Not only will they have an impact
in the marketplace and in their future church, but many
will have the skills to volunteer to help with other
church-based campus ministries.
Campus Crusade can continue to provide resources
for students who graduate from your ministry. For more
