Southeastern Community College Student Organization:
Campus Crusade for Christ
Name of Organization
Campus Crusade for Christ
Purpose of Organization
Campus Crusade for Christ exists to provide regular
opportunities to study and discuss the Bible, worship,
and pray, all in a group setting, which also provides
opportunities for fellowship, encouragement and spiritual
development among members. We seek to be a resource
to the student body by offering opportunities to discuss
spiritual matters and provide materials in the form
of outside speakers, video's, books and articles, all
for their benefit and consideration.
Membership
Campus Crusade for Christ has an open-door policy. All
members of the Southeastern Community College, as well
as any interested persons outside Southeastern Community
College, are welcome to attend the Bible studies and
meetings. There are no "members" in the sense of meeting
requirements or being accepted into membership. Campus
Crusade for Christ was formed by Christians who agree
in their belief that man's only access to God is through
Jesus Christ and faith in His deity, His death as full
payment for man's sins, and His resurrection. While
this is the foundation for the Bible study, those holding
other beliefs are welcome to attend.
Officers
Campus Crusade for Christ does not have officers. However,
a small group of participants with a strong commitment
to the maintenance of the organization agree to be named
as a steering committee for the purpose of financial
responsibility and communication with Southeastern Community
College administration. These persons are named in a
separate document. At the end of the 1995-1996 academic
year, those steering committee members who will graduate
from Southeastern Community College will, in group conference,
select successors to be named to the committee. Selection
will be based upon an appointment by the steering committee
at the last Bible study in the 1996 spring semester,
and agreement by those selected.
Meetings
Campus Crusade for Christ will meet each week on campus
at a time and place as yet to be determined. Additional
prayer meetings and steering committee meetings will
also meet on campus. Additional special meetings or
activities will be arranged informally through personal
communication through the posting of flyers on the School
campus.
Finance
To date, the organization has not requested Southeastern
Community College Student Activity funds. The weekly
meetings involve no expenses. Extra activities, such
as concert attendance, parties, dinners, and such, have
been individually paid for by each participant or by
the Campus Crusade for Christ International headquarters.
In the future, if the majority of participants believe
it is an appropriate request, Student Activity funds
may be requested through procedures established by the
Office of Student Life.
By-Laws
Due to the unstructured nature of Campus Crusade for
Christ and its purpose, which is unlike most other student
organizations, by-laws are not seen as appropriate or
necessary. Because it exists as a study and discussion
group with the students of Southeastern Community College,
the organization does not operate on the basis of rules
or prescribed format which would be subject to change
and, thus, require by-laws.
Steering Committee Practices
Campus Crusade for Christ International headquarters
reserves the right to review and revise the SECC chapters
constitution, steering committee practices, meetings
and other related leadership positions from time to
time as deemed just and necessary. SECC Campus Crusade
for Christ chapter shall adopt and adhere to the practices
and beliefs of the Campus Crusade for Christ's stated
purposes and objectives and statement of faith.
