Personal Purity
- Read Genesis 2:18-24. What is God's
attitude toward sex?
- Read Psalm 66:18, Isaiah 59:2, Ephesians
5:5-6, and Hebrews 13:4. What effect does following
our lusts have on our relationship to God?
- According to Proverbs 5:3-6 and 6:32,
what are some results of premarital or extramarital
sex?
- Why does everyone struggle with
the temptation of immorality (Galatians 5)?
- What is God's will for our lives
in the area of morality (1 Thessalonians 4:3-8
and 1 Corinthians 6:12-20)?
- What activities or environments
can produce wrong thoughts in your mind? How does
Scripture encourage us to deal with impure thoughts
(Romans 12:1-2, Philippians 4:8-9, Proverbs 22:3,
Luke 6:45)?
- Think about the type of dating relationship
that you desire to have. What would be different
from previous relationships, if anything? What convictions
would you have and what guidelines would you set?
- You are not alone in your
struggle of immorality. The "man after God's own
heart" struggled with this. Yet God is gracious and
forgiving. Read Psalm 51:1-4.
- Whom did David really sin against?
- What did David ask of God?
- In verse 15, what did David
resolve to do after he was forgiven?
- How does God view sin in the
Christian's life?
- Psalm 103:12
- Isaiah 38:17
- Isaiah 43:25
- Micah 7:19
Action Points
- Thank God that He has totally
forgiven you.
- List your standards for the
physical aspects of dating.
- Pray and ask for God's wisdom,
protection from temptation, and courage to say NO.
- Have someone keep you accountable,
if you are not accountable. Accountability works only
when you see a need for it and when you make the commitment
to be open and honest with someone.
- Memorize Scripture, which is
the renewing of your mind.
